Certificates of Birth, Marriage, & Death

Our office accepts and processes applications for birth, marriage and death events occurring in Alberta. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Photo identification must be presented when applying and the certificates take about 3-5 business days. Certain eligibility requirements must be met before a certificate can be ordered and differ upon the situation.

**Note that laminating or altering Vital Statistics documents renders them invalid.**

We DO NOT provide a rush service in our office.

Birth Certificates

There are 3 types of birth documents that can be ordered:

• Birth Certificate with Personal Information Only
• Birth Certificate with Personal Information and Parentage
• Photocopy of a Registration of Birth

Marriage Certificates

• Marriage Certificate
• Photocopy of a Registration of Marriage
• Marriage Search Letter

Death Certificates

There are 3 kinds of death documents that can be ordered:

• Death Certificate
• Photocopy of a Registration of Death
• Photocopy of a Medical Certificate of Death

 Stillbirth Certificates

• Photocopy of a Registration of Stillbirth
